Want to do biomedical research training at NIH? The Intramural Research Program is the internal research arm of the NIH. Our scientists, trainees, and fellows work in a collaborative research environment using cutting-edge tools to perform interdisciplinary research from the bench to the bedside. We’d like to invite you to learn about training opportunities in the NIH Intramural Research Program for college students, graduate/professional school students, and recent doctoral degree holders.
Undergraduate Scholarship Program
The NIH UGSP is a financial needs-based scholarship award for students who are committed to biomedical, behavioral and social science research. The program provides scholarship recipients up to $20,000 per academic year for tuition, educational, and reasonable living expenses. Scholarships are awarded for one year and can be renewed up to two years. The application opens on Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, and will close on Wednesday, Mar. 24, 2026 at noon ET. Reference letters are due Tuesday, Mar. 31, 2026, and the Exceptional Financial Need (EFN) form is due Tuesday, May 18, 2026.
