Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position focusing primarily on a 3-year NSF-funded research project in the Georgetown Laboratory for Relational Cognition, directed by Adam Green. The project will investigate learning in real world high school classrooms using longitudinal neuroimaging and behavioral measurement to assess learning-related changes in brain and cognition. This work will focus on the development of spatial STEM concepts and relational reasoning strategies. The postdoc will directly oversee project-dedicated research assistants and graduate students who will support data collection both in the high schools (behavioral) and at Georgetown (MRI). There will be ample opportunity, dependent on the post-doc’s level of interest, to engage with advanced multivariate MRI data analysis. The project will be conducted in collaboration with laboratories at Dartmouth, James Madison, and Northwestern.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or anticipate a Ph.D. no later than spring of 2018) in an area related to education and/or cognitive neuroscience. Candidates with a background in education research who are interested in neuroimaging, or candidates with a neuroimaging background who are interested in education would be well-suited to this position. This research will contribute to bridging the gap between the real world classroom and the cognitive neuroscience lab; the ideal candidate will be comfortable in both settings. Favorable consideration will be given to applicants with a record of productivity and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

Interested candidates should send a CV and a letter of application describing research interests and professional goals to Nhi Dinh (Nhi.Dinh@georgetown.edu), and should indicate three professional references who can readily provide letters of recommendation. The start date is likely to be in late spring/early summer 2018, but we aim to make a hiring decision well ahead of that time and review of applications will begin in fall 2017.
