RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION AVAILABLE AT CHEMICAL ENGINEERING AT UPR MAYAGUEZ
The main goal of the project is to identify contributions of mesenchymal cell
niches in the therapeutic response of triple-negative breast cancer cells. Culture
environments will be engineered to probe tumor-stroma interactions. The successful
applicant will work under the supervision of the PI to conduct experimental
studies, data analysis and other activities associated to this project. This is a 1-year
position that can be renewed on a yearly basis for up to a total of 3 years (subject to
the availability of federal funds). Annual salary + family medical insurance coverage+
fringe benets (Christmas bonus, retirement, etc) included. Available to start
on August 2021.
Performs assigned research tasks, prepares literature review, meets regularly with
supervisor to discuss research tasks, prepares research progress reports, order and
maintain inventory of research materials, in charge of maintenance of instrumentation
relevant to the research project, participate of project and research meetings,
prepares research manuscripts and presentations, trains and supervises
graduate and undergraduate students on assigned research projects, and
performs routine clerical duties that are essential to the research activities.
BS or MS in Biology, Chemistry, Industrial Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biomedical
Engineering or equiv., with 3+ years of experience in cell culture and biological
assays (e.g. Western Blot, IF, IHC, qRT-PCR, etc). Ability to work in an aseptic environment.
Disponibility to work on weekends and outside business hours is
required. Experience in handling tissue samples and histology studies is highly
desirable. Experience in microscale prototyping is a plus but not required.
