Al Gore says that Puerto Rico has the potential to become a leader in solar energy

In a talk Friday, November 5th in Puerto Rico, the ex-vice president of the U.S. and environmental leader, Al Gore, said that solar energy would be the primary energy source in the 21st century and that Puerto Rico had all the elements to become a leader in this field. His remarks go against the current Puerto Rican government's push for an island gas pipeline.

In a lecture at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, Jorge Brovetto Cruz, the leader of Frente Amplio, the political coalition that governs Uruguay, and former president of the University of the Republic of Uruguay, stated that governments should invest heavily in their universities and the education of their people, as education is the biggest economic asset any country can have.
