The Department of Chemistrty at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez recently inaugurated Puerto Rico's only DNA synthesis laboratory. This laboratory will focus in three research areas: disease diagnosis, anti-tumor drug synthesis, and the study of protein interactions in complex diseases. The laboratory received a $170,000 equipment donation from Pfizer.
