The Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists will celebrate their 60th anniversary during their annual meeting with the theme "Innovation in Microbiological Sciences". The event has a full agenda with topics of high impact and the participation of local and visiting scientists that will share the latest innovations and tendencies in microbiological sciences.

Dr. Greetchen Díaz will form part of the board of directors for the American Society for Microbiology. Dr. Diaz is currently the Research Grants Program Director for the Puerto Rico Science, Technology and Research Trust (FCTIPR).

Dr. Joseph M. Campos, secretary for the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) praised the work of the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists (SMPR) as a "miracle" at their annual conference. In the last two years SMPR has presented 12 student chapters, the most in the U.S.
