La Dra. Yajaira Sierra Sastre, joven científica y educadora originaria del pueblo de Arroyo, cuenta cómo su sueño de convertirse en astronauta comenzó cuando de niña observaba el cielo de noche con su papá.  Desde entonces ha tenido curiosidad por el espacio. Pasamos a una noche de observación para el público general de la Sociedad de Astronomía del Caribe (SAC). Vemos a niños y adultos observando a través de telescopios. El director de la SAC nos dice qué tipos de astros se pueden ver y cuán lejanos están estos cuerpos. Se explica el concepto de “años luz”.

(San Juan, Puerto Rico – 1 de abril de 2013) - Professor Armando Caussade, an astronomer and educator from Puerto Rico, has been selected to participate in a scientific mission at the South Pole's Amundsen-Scott Station. He will depart on December 2014 for a stay of three weeks. Caussade was selected by the National Science Foundation's PolarTREC program, which pairs educators with scientists working at various research facilities at the Earth's poles. Mr. Caussade will perform research on neutrinos using the IceCube telescope.
