The workshops will be at the INEDA facilities at UMET Bayamón.

The Metropolitan University in Bayamón will offer free public health disaster training for people who wish to be volunteer instructors in the reception centers of the World Cares Center, an organization in the United States that empowers communities to respond to disasters. The workshops will be offered on November 9 and 10 at the Institute of Environmental Education (INEDA) from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Following the devastation left behind by Hurricane Irma and Maria, professors and students from the School of Environmental Affairs of the Metropolitan University (UMET) of Cupey are coordinating recovery efforts for disadvantaged communities of San Juan and Cataño. This initiative of the UMET impacts 15 community gardens in San Juan and Cataño.

Researchers of the UMET achieve a patent that benefits cancer patients.

Two professors from the School of Environmental Affairs of the Metropolitan University (UMET) discovered biomarkers that identify cancer cells with little oxygenation. This discovery was certified by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and will benefit in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.

The Metropolitan University (UMET) opened the first Maria Zambrano Center for Transatlantic Studies (AMZET) in Puerto Rico, thanks to a a collaboration with the University of Malaga (UMA). This Center is an academic, inter-university and multidisciplinary initiative that will promote the exchange of ideas between researchers in Europe, Latinoamerica and Puerto Rico about cultural, social, political and economical topics.
