My research interests include:
Understand the relationship between microbial community structure and function in natural and managed tropical ecosystems; microbial diversity in tropical ecosystems; detection and identification of microorganisms in natural environments; genome sequencing, annotation and analysis; and to understand the ecology of microbial populations based on genome information. To address some of these questions we employ methods in microbiology (enumeration, isolation, activity); molecular biology (PCR, real-time PCR, cloning and sequencing), biostatistics (univariate and multivariate) and bioinformatics (PERL and R programming, sequence analysis, phylogeny, primer design).
