Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
Francheska López Rivera merges interests in art and biology toward a career in molecular animation. She has experience in the 3D animation field through a 3D animation course using Autodesk Maya, during which she produced the two short animation films displayed in the Animations section of her website, francheskalopezrivera.com. Francheska’s additional interests include teaching and science outreach. She is currently a PhD candidate in the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program at Harvard University, where she studies transcription in budding yeast in the laboratory of Dr. Fred Winston. She obtained a Bachelor of Environmental Design (architecture) and a second concentration in integrative biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus.
I am a graduate student in Dr. Fred Winston's lab, where I use genetics, molecular biology, and genomics to study the role of the essential protein Spn1 in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
