I have worked in different projects throughout these years. First, I did a summer internship at Penn State University working with the development of new probiotic alternatives. I also worked with University of Texas at Rio Grande Vallley School of Medicine in a research investigation targeted to identify health disparities in people living in the Americas, especially people living along the Mexican Border, and relate these two factors. I also worked in a fall semester investigation at the University of Puerto Rico in Aguadilla where I was able to teach a Puerto Rican community about breast cancer environmental risk factors utilizing science-take-out kits. Finally, I am currently working with the organization "PROTECT" which is dedicated to develop research to find and look into environmental threats to pregnant women. Therefore, I have been volunteering through data entry and community work with the pregnant women.
On the other hand, I am the President of the Honor's Program at my university. I have been working alongside fellow students in a project called "Pretty Incredible" which is dedicated to target a school in our area, in this case Froebel Bilingual School, and motivate girls to follow careers in STEM. We will do this starting September and will be offering science, technology, electronics, and mathematics experiments to these children. This will be a semester long intervention that will bring joy to many girls and change lives for sure.
