Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
After completing my BS at UPR, Mayaguez, I moved to Boston to pursue my doctoral degree. In May of 2011, I received my PhD in Biology from MIT, where I worked on the identification and characterization of novel cell cycle regulators in zebrafish. Recently, I joined the Schepens Eye Research Institute as a postdoctoral fellow to pursue a career in vision research.
I am interested in the study of retinal degenerative diseases that lead to blindness. We use several mouse models of retinal degeneration to elucidate the mechanism of disease and develop therapies that would halt progression of the disease and restore vision.
