Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
I have been involved in research on the microbiological quality of drinking and recreational waters in tropical areas of the world for the last 20 years. My main interest is the development of proactive measures to fight waterborne outbreaks of disease.
My laboratory is involved in several projects, including: constructed wetlands for the treatment of sewage, development of new indicators of risk in bathing waters, the ecology of microorganisms in tropical environments, and the use of microorganisms as bioremediation tools.
