According to several studies the taínos had plenty of knowledge in astronomy based in observation.

Today there will be a conference about archaeoastronomy in Puerto Rico sponsored by Sociedad de Astronomía de Puerto Rico (SAPR) form 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Caribbean University in Bayamón

Graduate student Fabiola Areces created a website to document the flora at El Yunque. The project Flora Virtual El Verde was lead by James Ackerman and Elvia Meléndez at the University of Puerto Rico- Río Piedras Campus and funded by Fondo Institucional para la Investigación (FIPI) ,  Biological Research Collections at NSF and Centro de Ecología Tropical Aplicada y Conservación (CATEC).
