Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the University of Wisconsin Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (UW ICTR), it is our pleasure to invite you to participate in a train-the-trainers facilitation workshop, Facilitating Entering Mentoring, to promote the dissemination of research mentor training. This workshop is being offered with support from the NIH to meet the growing demand for an evidence-based approach to research mentor training and to expand dissemination to diverse groups of scholars. By attending this workshop, you will join a select group of national leaders who have demonstrated a professional commitment to improve the training and career development of future generations of scholars conducting research.
The Facilitating Entering Mentoring workshop, hosted by UW ICTR, is being held in conjunction with three conferences:
· 2013 Society for the Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS) Conference in San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 11:00-5:00pm
o Learn to implement curricula targeted at mentors of junior faculty and post docs in clinical and translational science and mentors of undergraduates across Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) disciplines
o Workshop registration: https://uwmadison.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_aWx7qKFvdyeqktL
· 2013 American Public Health Association (APHA) Conference in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, November 1, 2013, 11:00-5:00pm

Participants in the workshop will gain the knowledge and skills needed to successfully implement one or more versions of the mentor training curricula in the Entering Mentoring series. Curricula in this series have been used successfully with research mentors of undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral trainees and faculty across science, engineering, mathematics, medicine and public health disciplines.
If interested in this opportunity to gain facilitation experience and promote the dissemination of research mentor training, use the individual link below each conference to complete the survey and register. Please note that registration for facilitator training does not constitute registration for any of the conferences.
Enrollment for each workshop is limited to 40 attendees on a first come, first served basis. Subsequent to your registration, additional information on the training will be forthcoming (contact Kim Spencer, kcspencer2@wisc.edu with questions).
Best regards,
