Description

The Fossati Lab at the Alzheimer’s Center at Temple has a position available for one postdoctoral fellow. This laboratory is working on elucidating the role of neurovascular dysfunction and mitochondria-mediated cell death mechanisms in Alzheimer's disease (AD), with an aim to developing possible therapeutic strategies and identifying novel targets for drug discovery. It is also focusing on the characterization of bio fluid biomarkers for this disorder, using innovative high sensitivity approaches.

The lab is interested in candidates with skills in molecular and cell biology, and animal studies including treatment, behavior, immunohistochemical and biochemical analysis. Skills on human brain staining and human bio fluid analysis of biomarkers are a plus.

This postdoctoral position is available for a motivated, enthusiastic recent Ph.D. graduate in neuroscience, pharmacology, cell biology/physiology, or biochemistry/molecular biology, with a track record of productivity, who has a broad background in the areas described. Non-U.S. citizens are eligible to apply.

Temple University is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. Women and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • A recent Ph.D. graduate with experience and publications in the field of Alzheimer’s disease and/or other neurodegenerative diseases (i.e. stroke, TBI).
  • Knowledge of molecular/cell biology, mouse models, biochemistry, and immunohistochemistry. A good knowledge of general neuroscience and AD is preferred.
  • Experience with scientific writing and publication.
  • Must provide the names of three individuals who can provide recommendations.

Desired skills:

  • A self-motivated and driven individual who is able to exhibit exceptional research productivity and take responsibility for independent management of the project.
  • A detail-oriented researcher who thinks critically to effectively design experiments and solve complex research problems.
  • The ability to work in a team environment, and interact with students who will need instruction.
  • A collaborative, hands-on researcher who proactively shares knowledge and expertise with lab members.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to prepare manuscripts and assist with grant applications.
