A new program, known as "Contacto Verde", will require students to participate in nature experiences. The goal of this program is to improve the scientific literacy of students, especially in relationship to local flora, fauna, and environmental issues.

A team of scientists, including Puerto Rican biologist Manuel Leal, discovered that Anolis lizards use the bagpipes on their necks to increase contrast against their surroundings to visually communicate with their species.
