Resource Center for Distance Education receives grant to create professional certification in Computer Science

The Resource Center for Distance Education (CREAD), attached to the Dean's Office of Academic Affairs of the University of Puerto Rico Mayagüez Campus (RUM), received a grant of $537,800.00 from the 21st Century Technical and Business Education Fund of the Puerto Rico Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC). The grant will be used to establish the CREAD Computer Science Academy, an educational program for professional certification in Computer Science, which will provide a credential in nine to 12 months.

Response for students and STEM educators to the emergency of COVID-19

Given the recent natural disasters and the public health emergency that we are facing, Ciencia Puerto Rico continues to be committed to the educators and students of Puerto Rico, who have seen their teaching and learning process interrupted, first by a sequence of earthquakes and now by the COVID-19 pandemic. This new crisis (the third in last three years) highlights how important it is to develop strategies and tools that ensure the continuity and resilience of the education system.
