CienciaPR participated (via Google Hangouts on Air) of a conversation on STEM education with Bright Spots in Hispanic education across the U.S. Last Hispanic Heritage Month, CienciaPR was one of 230 Bright Spots recognized by the White House for their efforts to improve education for Latinos.

Yale Ciencia Initiative is Recognized by White House for Answering Call to Action on Hispanic Education

For a second time this year the Yale Ciencia Initiative has been recognized by The White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics (WHIEEH). This time the organization has been highlighted for committing to launch The Voice of Experience, a bilingual online resource to help inform students about career possibilities in science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) through the examples and “voices” of successful Latino STEM professionals.

Washington, D.C. – Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR, www.cienciapr.org), the world's largest network of Puerto Rican scientists and a project managed by the Yale Ciencia Initiative, was recognized by the White House as a "Bright Spot” in Hispanic Education. The award was granted by the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.

CienciaPR is 1 of 17 initiatives across the entire United States to be highlighted in the area of ​​science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The community, which through an innovative web-based platform brings together thousands of Hispanic scientists, students and educators worldwide, was recognized as a leader in promoting science education and careers in STEM among Hispanics.
