I am an Assistant Professor of Endocrinology at New York University Langone Medical Center. I completed high school at UHS in Rio Piedras, PR in 1997, undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering at Cornell University in 2001, and my MD-PhD from Harvard-MIT in 2009. I am pursuing a career in academic medicine and biomedical engineering, developing mass spectrometry-based tools for metabolomics/and flux analysis, while further studying the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome and Type 2 Diabetes. I would like to apply the developed tools to understanding the high prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes in the Puerto Rican population.
