Welcome to CienciaPR, an expert and resource network for all who are interested in science and Puerto Rico.
My research interests and activities are focused on behavioral sciences and education, as it relates to behavioral aspects associated with severe mental health disorders, such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and psychosis. As a Research Assistant, I have been involved in qualitative and quantitative research with Puerto Rican population diagnosed with BPD, as well as the validation of scales for depression for children population in Puerto Rico and in Puerto Rican hospitalized patients. Also, I am particularly interested in contributing to the profound understanding of the design and implementation; of control and prevention community intervention models for Stigmatization of severe mental health disorders. Currently my thesis is the validation of a scale that measure the stigma of mental health problems in Puerto Rico. As part of the outreach and research team, I have been involved in research activities for studying and addressing various aspects of stigmatization, experiences of relatives with severe mental health disorders, health promotion of children, adolescents and adults, including the identification of the patient psychosocial needs. Also, I have completed my practice as social studies middle school teacher and completed the tests required for licensure as a teacher in Puerto Rico. I want to improve and strength my teaching techniques, research writing skills and socio cultural knowledge of diverse population.
