The nonprofit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR), the largest network of Puerto Rican scientists in the world, joins the March for Science-Puerto Rico as a co-organizer.

The March for Science-Puerto Rico, will take place April 22, 2017 (Earth Day) beginning at 11:00 am at Plaza Colon in Old San Juan, moving towards the Capitol and ending at the Pavilion of Peace in Luis Muñoz Rivera Park, where it will join the Feria Para la Naturaleza, where the public will enjoy exhibitions and scientific activities for all ages. The March is one of more than 425 simultaneous events around the world to represent, celebrate and defend science.

The March for Science-Puerto Rico seeks to: 1) foster a scientific culture in Puerto Rico; 2) enhance decision-making informed by scientific evidence, and by the local scientific community; and 3) promote a solid and sustainable science infrastructure to ensure the social and economic prosperity of Puerto Rican citizens.

"For the past decade our organization has brought science and the scientific community closer to the Puerto Rican public and promoted science communication and education, and scientific careers in Puerto Rico," said Dr. Mónica I. Feliú-Mójer, vice-director of CienciaPR and part of the March’s organizing committee. "CienciaPR is proud to participate and co-organize the March for Science-Puerto Rico."

"We invite all members of the CienciaPR community to march with us and join us on April 22 in Old San Juan," said Dr. Giovanna Guerrero-Medina, executive director of the organization and also a member of the March’s organizing committee.
