The nesting places for hawksbill and green turtles are quickly disappearing, and so are these species. Both of theses turtles nest, among other places, in the shores of Puerto Rico.

Successful start for the new Pridco fellowship program

Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company announced that its new fellowship program for teachers was well received. There have been 39 applications from high school teachers interested in furthering their training and completing masters and PhD degrees in math and sciences

Women in science

There is a fantastic article by Ben Barres in Nature this week (it was also profiled in the New York Times) regarding women in science. It also touches on minorities in Science. It is absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend it. BTW, you will be happy to know most of CienciaPR members are women scientists, reflecting the general trend documented in the last couple of weeks that women are doing better than men in academic disciplines.
