Dr. Lourdes A. Medina Avilés, engineering professor at UPR Mayagüez received two international awards:

Manufacturing and Design Division Outstanding Service Award by the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE).

Emerging Leader in 2015 by the 'Colegio de Ingenieros y Agrimensores de Puerto Rico (CIAPR)'

Mega Civil Friday is the top continuing education event hosted by the Institute of Civil Engineers (IIC) of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto RIco (CIAPR) gathering hundreds of construction professionals annualy. This year the focus will be the assessement of the Island's needs to confront climate change.

On January 19, Learning by Doing celebrated the 1st Underwater Robotic & STEM Research Symposium where 118 students presented research projects with a STEM and an underwater robotics focus.

Five students from the middle school Francisco Zayas Santana in Villalba will participate in a Robotics competition in Southern Mississippi University, in Mississippi, from May 15 to 19.

They are currently fundraising to support the cost of trip. To contribute send an email to ycolon224@gmail.com
