The PR Weather Camp is an initiative led by the Department of Marine Sciences at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus. The program has been running for a decade with the educational mission to reach pre-college students and introduce them to environmental and meterological sciences.

Two doctoral students from the Marine Sciences Department at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez Campus developed an educational application to identify Caribbean fish. This app was named Artedi in honor of Peter Artedi, known as the father of Ichthyology, the branch of zoology that studies fishes.

Rivera Nieves is a graduate student at the UPR Mayagüez that received a fellowship by The Hydrographic Society of America for his thesis: Implementation of an Unstructured Three-Dimensional Circulation Model for San Juan Bay Estuary. Adail works under the supervision of Dr. Miguel Canals Silinder.
