The work of the community-based organization Casa Pueblo in favor of renewable energy and energy independence have led them to become the face of Google's Project Sunroof, a tool created to calculate the potetial of solar roofs around the world.

Apply for the Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon

This Solar Decathlon, which spans 2019 and 2020, gives teams the option to participate in one of two Challenges: the Design Challenge or the Build Challenge. Teams that enter the Design Challenge must select from six allowable building types to create their design. Teams that enter the Build Challenge must choose to compete with a “Local Build” house or with a transportable “National Showcase” house.

A pilot project to be developed in Yauco will turn food waste intro electrical power and compost. The project is a collaboration between the Center for Sustainable Agriculture Small Businesses and Technology of Yauco and the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua.

The National Wildlife Refuge in Vieques is the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico to produce its own electricity based on solar power. For that they will be recognized by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
