Three students from the Turabo University designed and built a control remote lawn mower as part of a final class project. The students plan to patent their idea and use this project to kickstart their future as entrepreneurs.

The U.S. Department of Energy approved funding for a consortium of Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) and national laboratories, led by the Puerto Rico Energy Center (PREC) of Turabo University. The members of the consortium are: University of New Mexico, University of Texas El Paso, Miami Dade College, Universidad of Puerto Rico Mayagüez, Sandia National Laboratory and National Energy Technology Laboratory.

Elvin Torres Alicea, an undergraduate student from the University of Turabo developed the app DoUMath, which allows the user to learn math by playing games on their iPhone.
