The American Society for Cell Biology Minorities Affairs Committee (MAC) is pleased to announce that it is accepting applications for its 5th Annual Junior Faculty/Postdoctoral Fellows Career Development Workshop. The workshop is scheduled for June 12-13, 2010. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MAY 14, 2010. The workshop will be held in Rosemont, IL, at the Westin O’Hare (www.westinohare.com ). Plenary and breakout sessions will cover areas relevant for the establishment of an academic career at research intensive and comprehensive/teaching institutions. Session topics will include the following: Professional Conduct, Grantsmanship, Mentorship, Leadership, Ethics/Conflicts of Interest, Writing, Science Policy, Lab Setup and Management. The workshop is open to all postdoctoral fellows and junior level faculty. A limited number of travel awards are available for members of underrepresented groups in the sciences, members of disadvantaged populations, and for faculty (regardless of ethnicity) at Minority Serving Institutions. The awards will cover travel, registration ($250) meals, and housing.
