UCSB Crossroads (http://www.graddiv.ucsb.edu/financial/tax-information/crossroads) is an innovative model of interdisciplinary graduate education in which faculty and graduate students from multiple disciplines conduct a yearlong research project and translate that experience of interdisciplinary research into pedagogy in the undergraduate classroom. Run by the Graduate Division, it engages faculty and doctoral students from across the UCSB campus. We have obtained funding to develop training and mentoring programs to address challenges identified during the pilot phase of the project, and to assess the educational effectiveness of the model.

We seek a project coordinator to develop and deliver research- and theory-based course modules and workshops to graduate students on university-level pedagogy and interdisciplinary scholarship, as well as to provide general support to the Crossroads program and its assessment. The project coordinator will also create and deliver presentations, publications and website content describing the Crossroads model and its effectiveness to campus, state, and national audiences. The latter work will be done in collaboration with a group of faculty from across the natural and social sciences as well as PhD staff working in instructional development, professional development, and assessment. The project coordinator will report directly to the Associate Dean of the Graduate Division. The position is classified as an Academic Coordinator I, which has a salary range broadly comparable to a postdoc.
