San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 28, 2014 – The state competition MATHCOUNTS® that helps to develop excellence in math among intermediate school students, has a great final on March 28.  About 25 private and public institutions were represented among the 200 participants.

The Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico served as the host for this competition, organized by the Chapter of National Society of Porfessional Engineers of Puerto Rico (NSPE).

The winning schools were: 1st place: CIMATEC, 2nd place: Saint John’s School, 3rd place: Tasis Dorado and 4th place Liceo Aguadillano.

The winners of the Count Down Round were: Ana Rullán  from Saint John’s School; Elly Aldo Rivera from Liceo Aguadillano; Gustavo Santiago and Omar Santiago from CIMATEC.

 The winners at a individual level were:

- 4th place- Anna Rullán (Saint John’s School)

- 3rd place - Omar Santiago (CIMATEC)

- 2nd place- Elly Aldo Rivera Lisboa (Liceo Aguadillano)

- 1st place - Alberto González (CEDIN)

 These students will be part of the team that represents Puerto Rico at the National Competition in Orlando, Florida during May.  María del Carmen Rodríguez will served as the coach.
