Around 200 students from 23 middle schools participated in the Statewide Mathcounts Competition organized by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)- Puerto Rico Chapter and the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico.

Successful State MATHCOUNTS Competition in PUERTO RICO

More than 20 institutions and 200 students participated in the state final competition.

San Juan, Puerto Rico, – The MATHCOUNTS® competition helps develop excellence in mathematics for middle school students. This competition was hosted by the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico and organized by the Local Chapter of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). The winning team will be representing Puerto Rico in the national final competition.

San Juan, Puerto Rico, March 25, 2015 – MATHCOUNTS® competition announced this year winners.

Winners schools by teams:

-          1st Colegio Católico Notre Dame

-          2th Antilles Middle School

-          3rd Tasis – Dorado

-          4th Colegio San Ignacio

Students winners at individual level:

- 1st Miguel Tulla Colegio Católico Notre Dame

- 2nd Milton Santiago, Antilles Middle School

- 3rd Nico Prokauer, Antilles Middle School

- 4th Ángel Gómez, Colegio Católico Notre Dame

 

*These students will represent Puerto Rico in the National Competition in Boston during May.

Approximately 150 students from 18 public and private middle schools participated Saturday, March 23 in the state Mathcounts competition.

Engineer Gabriel Echandi, Mathcounts coordinator in Puerto Rico, said that this competition is organized by the National Society of Professional Engineers and is cosponsored by the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico, which hosted the activity.
