The Puerto Rico Science Technology and Research Trust announces that it has assigned $4.7 million for the funding of investigator initiated projects in Puerto Rico. The award of these funds will follow a formal Request for Proposals (RFP) process, soon to be announced. In response to recent videos showing beach goers bothering four manatees at Crash Boat beach in Aguadilla, Secretary of Puerto Rico's Natural and Environmental Resources Agency, Carmen Guerrero Pérez, has made an urgent call to Puerto Rico's citizenship o avoid disturbing marine species and notes that violators may be charged under federal and Puerto Rican laws that protect endangered species.
