The first epidemiological study of the manatee population of Puerto Rico will be conducted in the south of the island with the participation of 60 biologists, veterinarians, technicians, students and volunteers.

Manatees Aramaná and Yuisa were removed from the area in front of Punta Salinas beach in Toa Baja, where they had been adapting to sea life after being rehabilitated, at the possibility that there may be a fuel spill from the American Cruise Ferries ship that ran aground near the coast of San Juan.

A video of several beach goers harassing manatees in Crash Boat beach in Aguadilla is causing great concern. In addition to violating state and federal laws, there people risked suffering bodily harm and hurting the manatees, an endangered species.
