Several studies done at the University of Puerto Rico inform on the impact of an invasive species, the phillipine orchid (Spathoglottis plicata), which competes with the native species of orchid Bletia patula. They urge the public not to take and replant this exotic orchid in order to control the dispersion of the plant and the effects on the ecosystem.

The Department of Computer Science, College of Natural Sciences at the Rio Piedras Campus of the University of Puerto Rico announces a search to fill a full time, tenure track faculty position to begin in August 2016.
More than 100 students from private and public schools throughout Puerto Rico participated in the first Chemistry Student Congress at the University of Puerto Rico - Río Piedras campus. The activity was organized by the campus' American Chemical Society (ACS) chapter and the ACS Chem clubs at the high school level. The activity included workshops, discussions and a plenary session with Dr. Luis Echegoyen from the University of Texas.

Un paradigma establece lo que se asume como correcto o básico en una disciplina. Son estos axiomas los que nos ayudan a interpretar las cosas desde un punto de vista u otro.
