Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR) and Junta Innovadora Comunal Villa del Carmen celebrated on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the "Ciencia y Solidaridad" (Science and Solidarity) event, paying tribute to community leaders while exploring the way science is in communities' daily life.

The activity, held at the Villa del Carmen Community Center, honored 11 leaders whose stories of service and community transformation are documented in the book of the same name, published by CienciaPR.

San Juan, PR – On December 5, the Coors Light Líderes program announced that Puerto Rican scientist Elvin Joel Estrada García was selected as one of its five leaders of the year. Estrada García, an expert in education and Senior Coordinator of Educational Resources at the organization CienciaPR, is the only person chosen from Puerto Rico on this occasion.

Celebrating its 18th edition, Coors Light Líderes, recognizes and supports Latino nonprofit leaders in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Berkeley, CA – May 6, 2024 – The short film documentary "Coming Home" is set to premiere virtually on May 9, 2024, at 3 pm ET/12 pm PT. Directed and produced by Dr. Mónica Feliú Mójer for the nonprofit Science Communication Lab (SCL), the film explores her journey as a Puerto Rican scientist, delving into the intersections of culture, community, and science.

The Coalición de Residentes de Vivienda Publica del Área Metropolitana (CRVPAM; Coalition of Public Housing Residents of the Metropolitan Area, in English) in collaboration with Laboratorio de Ciencia Comunitaria, a program of the non-profit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR), celebrated today the “Feria de Servicios para Adultos Mayores” (Services Fair for Seniors). The event was the culmination of a series of workshops and activities to provide tools, training, and alternatives to improve the quality of life of older adults through science and community engagement.        

The new report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine recognizes that racism has produced systemic barriers that limit full participation in science and medicine and offers concrete actions to break them down, thus promoting justice and inclusion. Puerto Rican scientist Dr. Giovanna Guerrero Medina, was chosen for her expertise and leadership as executive director of the organization Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR) to be a member of the committee that issued the document.
